Julie Hamilton: Working Wednesday’s. Today we’re here talking to Julie about what she does within the Trust, what she’s been up to and how she’s getting on. Julie is a valued part of the housekeeping team. Her main duties include, helping keep the Trust neat and tidy, getting things organized for events/activities, working closely with her team. Julies role is very flexible, as she takes on many roles here and has been head Chef at many of our events on site. Julie has also been fantastic at working with kids helping them be more confident in the kitchen. The daily housekeeping tasks allow renovation to onsite properties, as well as preparing the properties for lease. “The friendly atmosphere is a positive aspect of working in the Trust, this is a good bunch of volunteers and apprentices to work alongside. There are lots of opportunities, a chance to build confidence and a place where I can be myself. Geilsland is a great place to socialise and meet new people, with many events taking place on site. I really enjoyed the Mindfulness course that we all took part in and it helped me visualise my next steps and plans clearly. Training opportunities are in abundance with many courses available to both staff and volunteers.
The process of transitioning from the Trust to college has been made an easy, stress free experience due to the helping hand of our employability coach, Alison, who helped make sure all relevant paperwork, forms were in order.”
