Bike & A Burger 14/05/2017
A fresh Sunday morning in the heart of the Garnock valley, a warm summer like day with a gentle breeze. The sound of bicycle tyres on gravel and walk ways, the smell of burgers cooking slowly on the BBQ. The droning noise of the bouncy castle being inflated and the sound of people arriving. This was our Bike & a burger event.
With a constant steady flow of people coming and going throughout the day, engaging in all the activities, giving feedback on cycle routes, answering cycling related questions and having their say on the cycle paths running through the Garnock valley. Kids playing on the bouncy castle, jumping as high as they could, whizzing about the sports hall on the balance bikes, going over ramps and making personalised cycle themed badges at our craft corner, there were more than enough activities for the kids to participate and engage in throughout the day. The electric bikes are also always a hit proving popular with both adults and teens. With top speeds reaching 35mph, individuals were zooming around the Geilsland site all day. There was also a handy free bike MOT station with all bicycle mishaps dealt with on the day, from dodgy brakes to flat tyres the bike mechanic would soon have you on your way. The BBQ was flaming fantastic with burgers being flipped all day, the smoky BBQ aroma filled the site and everyone seemed happy, no one hungry and every one cycling!
