Gillian Thorpe – Social Media Assistant Work Experience- Greenwood Academy

I have been on social media since I was young. I use all social media platforms to express myself and share posts about myself about what I get up to. Social media plays a big part in my life as I use it all throughout the day to check up on what other people are up to. I can connect with my friends outside of school and my extra-curricular activities. My school relies on using social media to advertise events such as concerts and parents evenings to guarantee a successful turnout.

My favourite social media platform to use is Instagram because I can express myself through picture form and create a theme that people find ‘aesthetically pleasing’. My Instagram is set to public mode because I find that I have a specific audience that want to see my posts that aren’t people in my close friend group. I have a professional DSLR Canon camera which I often use to take photos. I also help take pictures for my friends for their social media platforms. Although social media is important and plays a big role in people’s lifestyles, I think it is also important to be able to take a break to communicate and live in the moment.

On Wednesday, we unfortunately couldn’t stay for the full day as we had to get back for our school concert but we managed to take some photos of the cooking. Everyone was enjoying getting involved and all the food looked great!  When we came back on Thursday we wrote a mock Press Release about our concert.
