Our Projects
Lend an Ear Telephone Befriending
Lend an Ear is our award-winning telephone befriending service that we run from Geilsland Estate. Lend an Ear is a free telephone befriending service that we run for anyone who is feeling stressed, anxious, or worried about anything in their lives.
With 4 years of experience, our lend-an-ear befrienders are trained and skilled in talking you through your worries and hopefully easing your mind with a quick chat. The calls are completely confidential but are screened for our befrienders’ safety, and simply to take your mind off your troubles for an hour or so. Calls can be made weekly, or just a one-off depending on your availability and what you want to chat about. We also offer bi-monthly afternoon teas for our lend-an-ear clients where they can meet other befrienders in person and enjoy an afternoon with tea, cakes, and a good gab.
To sign up for a befriending call please complete this form and Alison will be in touch with you as soon as she can to have a chat about what you’re looking for. From there we will arrange the day and times you’re looking for and go from there.
It is important to keep in mind that this is not a counselling service and our befrienders are not trained therapists; if you feel that this is something that might benefit you more than our calls we can point you in the right direction.
If you require more information or have any questions please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 01505 228141.
Meet other service users
If you enjoy using the Lend an Ear emotional support helpline in Ayrshire, you can also attend one of our bi-monthly afternoon teas, where you can meet befrienders and other users of the service in person – all while you indulge in cake and a good gab with like-minded people.
If you’d like to arrange a time for a chat with one of our befrienders, please complete this form. Once received, one of our befrienders, Alison, will be in touch as soon as she can to ask a little more about what you’re looking to gain from Lend an Ear. Then we can arrange some dates and times that suit and get that first conversation all scheduled.
If you feel that a counselling service with trained therapists is more akin to what you need right now – we can point in the right direction of appropriate services, in Ayrshire and across Scotland.
