Beith Trust’s e-bike project is about making active travel more accessible, practical and confidence-building for people across Beith and the Garnock Valley.
Whether someone wants to try an e-bike for the first time, build confidence on local roads, take part in a led ride, or explore a more affordable way to get to work, training or appointments, our aim is simple: to help local people move around more easily, more sustainably and with more confidence.
Our e-bike hire offer gives local people the chance to try an e-bike without the cost of buying one. E-bikes can make cycling feel more achievable, especially for people who are returning to cycling, building fitness, traveling longer distances, or dealing with the hills and rural roads that are part of everyday life in the Garnock Valley.
Hiring an e-bike is simple. Complete our inquiry form and a member of the Beith Trust team will get back to you. You may also be asked to register with Beith Trust before taking part, so we can keep in touch, support you properly and understand the difference the project is making.
We know that having access to a bike is only part of the journey. Confidence matters too.
That is why Beith Trust, alongside Trinity Travel Hub, hosts led cycle rides with the lovely Helen, from Geilsland Estate, helping adults get out on local routes in a friendly, supported way. These rides are a chance to enjoy the countryside, meet other people, build cycling confidence and learn more about safe, everyday cycling.
Our led rides are usually small-group sessions, with time to get bikes ready before setting off. Routes are planned with care and often use quieter country roads where possible. Helmets are required and high-visibility clothing is strongly encouraged.
These rides help people move from “I’m not sure I can” to “I could do this again.”
A successful cycling project needs reliable bikes, regular maintenance and trusted local partnerships.
We are proud to connect our e-bike and cycling work with the skills and community spirit of Dalry Men’s Shed, whose activities include bicycle servicing, repairs, and bike recycling. Their practical experience helps support a local culture of repair, reuse and sustainable transport.
By working with community partners, we can help keep bikes in good working order, support people to understand basic maintenance, and make sure cycling remains safe, affordable and accessible.
Our e-bike project also links closely with Beith Trust’s employability work.
Through our employability programme, we support people to build confidence, gain skills, prepare for interviews, access work experience and take positive steps towards employment. For some people, transport is one of the biggest barriers to taking up those opportunities.
That is why we are developing our upcoming transport-to-work offer as part of our wider employability support. This will look at practical ways to help people access work, training, placements, interviews and work-related activity when cost, distance, timing or limited public transport gets in the way.
E-bikes can play an important role in that. They can offer a flexible, low-cost and sustainable option for local journeys, especially where someone needs a reliable way to get to a shift, attend training, reach a placement or build independence.
Transport can be the difference between someone being able to say yes to an opportunity or having to turn it down.
For people facing financial pressure, caring responsibilities, low confidence, limited transport options or rural isolation, access to an e-bike can open up choices. It can support health and wellbeing, reduce travel costs, build independence and help people feel more connected to their community.
Beith Trust’s e-bike project is not just about bikes. It is about confidence, connection, opportunity and helping people get where they need to go.
