Cookie Policy
We wanted to help explain what cookies are, the different types, why Beith Community Development Trust uses them and how they affect your web experience.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. For example, cookies are used to remember users’ preferences and to help navigate between pages efficiently. A cookie doesn’t tell us your email address or any other personal information. If you choose to create register with us at a later date, the personal information you provide will not be shared with any third party, other than as stated in our privacy policy. Cookies will typically contain details such as the domain from which the cookie has come, a value which is usually a random unique number as an identifier and the lifetime (expiry) of the cookie.
What will a cookie do for me?
Almost every website that offers advanced features such as online ordering/quoting and custom content utilises cookies. Each website utilises unique cookies, which essentially means that the cookies used by one site cannot be used by another.
Why does Beith Community Development Trust use cookies?
Beith Community Development Trust wants to provide a good customer experience on its website and here’s an example of how cookies can allow this to happen:
Auto-login cookie. Optional, for when a user requests that the login form ‘remembers’ their log in details, used for no other purpose.
Quote reference cookie. Optional, this cookie stores your quote reference; allowing you to proceed directly to our application form without needing to re-key cover information, used for no other purpose.
Session cookie We keep and review session history information. We use session information to keep a record of pages viewed and quotes generated. After monthly analysis (to see popular pages, site exits etc.) we delete session history information. Once a session has ended there is no way of identifying a user to a particular session. Sessions automatically expire after 30 minutes.
Why do I need to know this?
Beith Community Development Trust respects customer concerns and we want you to know why we ask you to opt-in and accept cookies. We want to be clear that accepting cookies does not give us access to your computer or personal information. We value our customer
relationships and feel that our customers will benefit from cookies on our website, which enhance the web experience.
