At Beith Trust, we offer a varied range of training and skills development opportunities to allow our volunteers and members of our community to flourish and boost their confidence and employability prospects.
Some of the certified skills development courses are first aid education, mental health first aid training, and youth leadership courses for young people, to name a few.
One of the most well-known accredited courses we run, in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, is our Activate course. This course covers important aspects of community development and activism and is free for anyone who is interested in volunteering, activism, and community development.
To be the first to hear about any skills development opportunities we have to offer then make sure to keep an eye on our websites and turn on notifications for our social media feeds, or get in touch!
As well as ongoing training, support, and mentoring, volunteering with the Beith Trust also gets you free tickets to some of our biggest events, networking and educational opportunities, CV boosters, and certified training. On the latter, we offer certificates in the following:
- First Aid Awareness
- Fire Safety
- Food Safety
- Manual Handling
- Child Protection
- Customer Service Level 2
- Stress Management
- Unconscious Bias Awareness
- Infection prevention and control
Beith Trust volunteers are also privy to a discounted membership with KA Leisure; paying only £23 for full membership. If you wish to enquire about volunteering with the Beith Trust, please complete this form or contact us on 01505 228141.
Beith Astro is no normal sports facility, it is a community-owned and led organisation in the heart of Beith town. After years of neglect, Beith Astro had become derelict and rundown until finally clubs, groups and teams rallied together to discuss the lack of suitable facilities in the town. Soon an alliance was formed, which published a report based on the feasibility of community ownership of the sporting facilities in Beith. Based upon this report Beith Community Development Trust was formed to enable the redevelopment of Beith Astro.
Fast forward 5 years and you will find a state-of-the-art, third-generation football training pitch, accompanied by 6 modern changing pavilions. However, the Astro is much more than just its football pitch; it is also home to many family, community and children’s activities and events. With a fully functional kitchen, a polytunnel with fresh, homegrown vegetables and fruit, an art hut and a firepit; the opportunities are endless.
What’s on at Beith Astro
On Tuesdays and Fridays, we run Nature Play activities from 9:30am – 1pm; allowing families to come along and enjoy what nature has to offer. On Fridays we run our Free Food Fridays where we provide free food to our community members and the chance to have a cup of tea and a chat; no questions asked. We also frequently run art activities and seasonal events such as easter camps, summer camps, and Christmas and Halloween parties.
A new home for football
Beith Astro is also home to a revolutionary synthetic training surface and offers the closest resemblance to real grass possible. Consisting of a grass-like 50mm pile surface that is filled with recycled rubber granules, making friction burns a thing of the past. The 11-a-side pitch can be split into three 7-a-side pitches for training and small-sided games. Our hiring policy and cost breakdown are below:
|Full Pitch||Half Pitch||Third Pitch||Adult Game||Youth Game|
|1 Hour||1 Hour||1 Hour||1 Hour||1 Hour|
|Full Pitch||Half Pitch||Third Pitch||Game|
|1 Hour||1 Hour||1 Hour||1 Hour|
